Patient Coverâ„¢
If treatment causes injury, the patient is paid in cash.
Up to R3 million per insured life. One flat rate for every life. No fault to prove, and no lawyer required for the payment.
This is a summary only. The policy wording governs. Patient Cover is not a medical scheme, and it is not a substitute for medical scheme membership.

What is covered
Every procedure. No list.
What is not covered
The limits are plain.
What it pays
What a member is paid is read off a published table.
Nine impairment bands, plus death. The exact figure is linear within a band, rounded to the nearest rand, and illustrative only.
At 28%
R862,500
Band 21% to 35%: R600,000 to R1,125,000
Illustrative amount. The policy pays on the final impairment rating; the wording does not guarantee an interpolated figure.
A published table, not a negotiation. The exact figure is linear within the band, rounded to the nearest rand.
An independent clinical assessor rates whole person impairment on the AMA Guides. nownow does not rate the claim. This explorer is a summary, not a quotation.

The price
One flat rate for every life.
VAT inclusive, and the same for every life, regardless of age, sex, pregnancy or history. Newborn cover is included, with no extra premium. The exact premium is confirmed in the member's Policy Confirmation Document.
There is no waiting period at the start of a scheme. New joiners and direct members wait 30 days. Emergencies are exempt. A direct member also has a 15-day grace period, and cover starts when the first premium is received.
If the injury needs time
A first payment, then the balance.
Where an adult's injury has not stabilised, the first payment is 30% of the provisional benefit, and at least R50,000. The balance follows the final rating. The longstop is 12 months, and it can be deferred once by a further 12 months.
An adult who accepts the payment accepts it as full and final, unless they choose to sue first. If they sue later, the payment is reclaimed and a fee of R5,000 applies. A child is never asked to waive a right.
There is no online application on this site.
Cover is arranged with a partner, or as a direct member. A direct member's premium is confirmed in the Policy Confirmation Document, which is emailed within 2 business days of the first premium. Four consents sit with that document: records, assessment, POPIA, and optional marketing.
